Dachigram wildlife Sanctuary in Srinagar is is spreads across 140 square Km area and is at a distance of 25 km from the Srinagar valley. You can take bus or taxi to reach the sanctuary within 30 mins from famous Lal Chowk of Srinagar.
Please note that you need to take permission for the safari in advance. Stay for a day ot two is recommended but remember that no bed and breakfast is available except a hut inside the sanctuary so you need to arrange for your own. You can also enjoy safari in battery powered cars by paying Rs 500.
Best time to visit: octover is the best time to visit the Dachigram wildlife sanctuary.
This year we had the good fortune of visiting this wild life sanctuary,Mr Nasir the forest officer their was a perfect person to take us touring in the forest. He could converse with the birds their, knew so much about the plant n wild life that it opened new horizons for us too. The visit to Dachigram sanc. gave us a glimpse of wilderness.....Keep up the good work n thanks nasir uncle .
